Revisiting the WVOTA 2022 Annual ConferenceWe're Back!October 2022 marked the return of the Annual WVOTA Conference following a two-year break. We were welcomed by our hosts the University of Charleston OTA programs. Students from both locations made sure conference attendees found both parking and the Student Center. Shout Out to Our Sponsors:We want to thank the sponsors of the conference, their support was critical to our success! Gold Level Sponsors:Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown Bronze Level SponsorsAlzheimer's Association
Annual Award Winners:Three people were recognized for their contributions to OT over the previous year. Senator Takubo won the Spirit of WVOTA award and Sarah Black and Coty Dennler received the Mary Hager Legislative Award.
Professional DevelopmentEducational topics included vision disorders, pediatric feeding, Go Baby go, and transitions. One of the most impactful sessions of the day was a panel discussion where individuals in SUD recovery spoke to conference participants about the process of recovery and emphasized the importance of persistence, for both individuals in recovery and the healthcare workers who care for them. PostersAfter an excellent lunch (included!!) participants had a chance to review the latest in research and service projects through poster presentations with OT and OTA students from WVU and UC. Student Scholarship AuctionThese are just some of the items that were available in the silent auction to support WVOTA student scholarships.
